Lucha De Carreteras in Forza Horizon 5 is the luchador-themed Horizon Story — 8 chapters of masked-driver racing across Mexico, unlocked from the Horizon Apex Outpost built by completing the Tulum Expedition.

Earning 3 stars in all 8 chapters qualifies for the "Cover to Cover" Bronze trophy, making it one of the more accessible single-story completions in the game.

The Branching Chapter: The Rival or The Master

After completing Forzudo, the story splits into two parallel chapters — The Choice: The Rival and The Choice: The Master. Like the branching chapters in Born Fast and El Camino, both must be completed before Return of the Monster Ghost unlocks.

The Rival's 2:20 target is a standard-length race; The Master's 4:55 is the most generous 3-star window in the story — a longer, more demanding course where the tighter racing line matters more than raw speed.

Mixed Challenge Types

Six chapters are time-based races; one is score-based.

First Bout (120,000 PTS) — the third chapter, scored on driving skill rather than completion time. The score is built through drifting, speed skills, near-misses, and clean sections. Reach 120,000 points during the scored section to earn 3 stars — restart the chapter if the score falls short rather than continuing.

Lucha De Carreteras' 8 chapters are generally considered more forgiving than Born Fast's tighter time windows, making it a viable story for players who want Cover to Cover without committing to Born Fast's 1:40 Katya target.

The only complexity is remembering that both branching chapters count — 3-starring only one of the two Choice chapters leaves the trophy incomplete.
